Decorating the Edible and Non-Edible: Christmas Edition

This is our mantle.... My mom made the J-O-Y letters out of styrofoam, moss and holly.

This is a new display that my mom did this year.
She used a game table, garland, angels, remains from an old wreath, and a lamp.

Live Blogging: My Thoughts On Life Right Now.....

I am sitting here, thinking about how CHRISTmas is only 3 days away! Thinking about the reason we celebrate CHRISTmas. Its not about the gifts, the decorations, or spending time with your family but, about celebrating JESUS. The One who came to earth as a tiny baby, who grew up to give His life so we might live. Thats what CHRISTmas is really all about.

Nothing else.
Zero.
Zipo.
Nada.

 I wonder how people celebrate CHRISTmas without JESUS at the center, how they go through life trying to be "good" and "happy". How do you celebrate CHRISTmas without JESUS?!?! Please tell me, if you know.

I have friends that will be moving soon.....*sniff,*sniff* I have grown so close to that family over the past (almost) year. Okay....that was sorta random.

Well, I just realized that I have company coming over in less than an hour so I have to finish getting ready!
Bye!

My Favorite Song Right Now.....

Tears Fall by Barlow Girl

I have had the same dreams many times it haunts my mind

It starts with a life but it ends every time

Oh so many faces that this world will never see

A reason for your life but your heart will never beat

May our tears fall down

Let them soften this ground

May our hearts be found

God forgive us now

Oh what have we lost because we chose we'll never know

And loving you is better than feeling alone

And all our claims to freedom have become these heavy chains

And in the name of rights we keep filling nameless graves

Let the tears fall down

Let them soften this ground

Let our hearts be found

God forgive us now

Thursday's Thoughts

Step by Step

"He does not lead me year by year
Not even day by day.
But step by step my path unfolds;
My Lord directs my way.

Tomorrow's plans I do not know,
I only know this minute;
But He will say, 'This is the way,
By faith now walk ye in it.'

And I am glad that it is so.
Today's enough to bear'
And when tomorrow comes, His grace
Shall far exceed its care.

What need to worry then, or fret?
The God Who gave His Son
Holds all my moments in His hand
And gives them, one by one."

The Twelve Days of Homeschool......

(This song is to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas")

On the 1st day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "Can you homeschool legally?"

On the 2nd day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "Are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 3rd day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "Do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 4th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "What about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 5th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "YOU ARE SO STRANGE! what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 6th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "How long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 7th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "Look at what they're missing, how long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE!, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, do you homeschool legally?"

On the 8th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "Why do you do this, look at what they're missing, how long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, do you homeschool legally?"

On the 9th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "They'll miss the prom, why do you do this, look at what they're missing, how long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE!, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, do you homeschool legally?"

On the 10th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "What about graduation, they'll miss the prom, why do you do this, look at what they're missing, how long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE!, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you home school legally?"

On the 11th day of home school my neighbor said to me, "I could never do that, what about graduation, they'll miss the prom, why do you do this, look at what they're missing, how long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 12th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "Can they go to college, I could never do that, what about graduation, they'll miss the prom, why do you do this, look at what they're missing, how long will you homeschool, YOU ARE SO STRANGE, what about P.E., do you give them tests, are they socialized, can you homeschool legally?"

On the 13th day of homeschool I thoughtfully replied: "They can go to college, yes you can do this, they can have graduation, we don't like the prom, we do it cuz we like it, they are missing nothing, we'll homeschool forever, WE ARE NOT STRANGE!, we give them P.E., and we give them tests, they are socialized, AND WE HOMESCHOOL LEGALLY!"

On the 14th day of homeschool my neighbor said to me, "How can I get started, why didn't you tell me, where do I buy curriculum, when is the next conference, WILL PEOPLE THINK WE'RE STRANGE? I think we can do this, if you will help us, can we join P.E.? And we'll homeschool legally."

A Season of Thanks

This month, November, is what I call 'A Season of Thanks'. A time to be thankful and to look around and see the last of Fall until next year. A time to sit down around the T.V. to watch football, go to the Rock (a place in our neighborhood that has a gorgeous view!),  or take a nature hike through the woods. A time to gather around the table and celebrate Thanksgiving with family and eat delicious food.

We have many things to be thankful for such as a family, a house, clean water, nutritious food, good health, and our Saviour Jesus Christ. I think Thanksgiving is a foreshadow, so to speak, to Christmas. Christmas celebrates Jesus' birth and God's Plan to save the world. As we enter into this Christmas season, be reminded of what we are truly thankful for and who we celebrate, Jesus.

God Bless,
Giann

Thanksgiving with the Families

Like last year,  we went South, to celebrate Thanksgiving with both sides of the families.
We made memories and ate some wonderful food.
Day One:
When we arrived, my brother went straight to the rabbit my Grandma has as a pet. Her name is Jill. She had Jack........I think he ran away.

Anyway, while he bonded with her, my Dad, his Mom, my Mom, her Mom, and I played dominoes.  (Wow! Thats alot of moms.)

Day Two: No Pictures. Sorry!

Day Three: We took my Grandpa out to eat at......

his favorite place.

Apparently,  Lousiana is very cautious about Children 10 and under. This could have been taken the wrong way if it weren't for the food.

After that, we headed back to the house where Jason bonded with Beau, the dog.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We came back to  Grandma's and visted with some of our cousins.
Grandma and Jon took to the dance floor.
You can tell they were bored amused.
Jason, Jon, Jennifer, and Me
Day Four: We ate Lunch with my Grandma and then went to Mark and Cheryl's for dessert/supper/hang out time.
 The Turkey! Yum!
Mark and Cheryl's:
Sophie and Nanny
Caanan and Sophie
The Grandkids with Nanny
When it got dark we built a fire and roasted marshmellows. Yum!!
Noah roasting marshmellows
He got upset because they burned so.......
He then put them into the fire to well, um, burn some more.
My Dad enjoyed eating s'mores
and so did Jason and Hayley.
We made memories, ate some good food, and enjoyed visiting with family.
On our way back we stopped to take a break and saw a train.
It was a time to be thankful, even for  Satan the Squirrel who happens to be turned into stone from the Witch of Narnia dead. :)
Thank you for reading! Please Comment and rate this post! Thanks!
HIS Mercies Are New Every Morning
Background Story:
Having some trouble with my literary essay, I asked a few people to help me and only 2 people actually decided to do so. So, I  texted the 2 people back and forth for about an hour trying to get information. The first person I texted had not even started her paper yet. (Note: the paper was due in 3 days). She did not help me and neither did the other person. Clarification: They actually Did help me but not in that moment in the way I wanted them to.)  The other person did have his paper finished, I must add. But he, I think, thought I was out of it and he would not tell me what I needed to know. Still not getting what I needed, he, I think,  perceded to get fed up with me and tell me that I should have written the paper a week ago. He also told me that " giann it doesn't matter if you can write a paper in 3 days... thats not the point.......... your paper wont be near as good as it could be if you try and write it in 3 days". I don't know what he thought of me then, he might have been fed up with me for all I know but he had a good point. :)
This escapade reminded of something the next day. He may be fed up with me but I know My GOD isn't. HIS mercies are new every morning. If this doesn't make sense to you, thats okay. I don't think it will make sense to anyone but me. And I'm okay with that. :)
The truth to take away from this post is not only to do your work ahead of time but, to remember that GOD's mercies are new every morning.
