My Trip to Guatemala Day 5 and 6 Part one

Days 5 & 6 were the same as Day 4. Here are some pictures from those days!

We filled 75 gift bags with various items such as lotion, shampoo, and conditioner for the ladies.

Then the kids arrived.

I taught the bible lesson via translator.

Then it started to rain so we moved in here.

Crafts.......

There is something special about these girls......I will tell you later.

Back at the construction site.........

Things were going smoothly!

Meanwhile back at the church........

We continued to keep the children occupied. Actually our team members who needed a break.

Then some of the kids started staring at this...........

Yes. I rode on a motorcycle in Guatemala! It was fun!

My friend Anna rode also!

My Trip to Guatemala Day 4

Day 4 was our second ministry day. The men started building a house for a family of 3, two of the ladies from our team led a women's Bible study on the book of Ruth, and the rest of our team did VBS with the kids.
Here are some of the pictures! Enjoy!

The church where we ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner and where we led the women's Bible study and the VBS.

Coffee Beans!

Building the house.......

After lunch, most of our kids, who were at the construction site in the morning, stayed and played with the native children in the afternoon.

Isn't she the cutest baby!?

My Trip to Guatemala Day 3 - First Ministry Day

Day 3 was our first ministry day as a team. We were able to go to the Promised Land* and help build a retaining wall and give out over 200 pairs of shoes to Men, Women, and Children up in the mountains.

*the Promised Land is a camp for all ages groups; primarily youth and we gathered rocks from Lake Atitlian (sp?) to build a retaining wall. I personally did not want to get in the water but when I arrived there I changed my mind. :) I loved it!

After that we went to lunch and drove to the mountains. We were about 7,000 feet up in the air! We literally had our heads up in the clouds. I taught the Salvation Bracelet with the help of the translator. Then we did crafts and gave out shoes!

So here are pictures from our day. Enjoy!

The turkey that hung around our place one morning.

The view from the Promise Land.

Our mode of transportation during the week. (Or vans.)

These girls came running up to me screaming; "un photo", "un photo"!

The line when we got there.

Sorting shoes

The line after about 10 -15 min.

The kids and our team leading songs.

My dad gave this girl a pair of new shoes! So precious!

Washing feet.

Thats all!

I will post Day 4 in the near future. Adios!

Randomness

This is just a random post. You don't have to read it unless you want to.

I woke up this morning to it raining outside. And I haven't felt like doing anything else today. When it rains I want to either go back to sleep, watch a movie or read a good book. Instead, I did my best to clean my room and bathroom but didn't get very far. I was looking through my magazines and read most of them. I was also listening to Adventures in Odyssey and paying to much attention to the story than to my room. I have alot of things to do before the beginning of next week. So, I must go and also because my mother is calling me!

Oh, I will try to have the rest of my trip to Guatemala up this week. Stay Tuned!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Quote of the Day.

This is so funny! For those who know about Pride and Prejudice, you will know what scene this came from! I came across this quote in my Vocabulary book!

"Mr. Hurst looked at her [Miss Bennet] with astonishment.

" 'Do you prefer reading to cards?' said he; 'that is rather singular [strange].'

" 'Miss Eliza Bennet,' said Miss Bingley, 'despises cards. She is a great reader, and has no pleasure in anything else.'
I deserve neither such praise nor such censure [blame],' cried Elizabeth; 'I am not a great reader, and I have pleasure in many things.' " -Jane Austen {Pride and Prejudice}
